Detailed 6 Day Southern Morocco Itinerary from Marrakech to Essaouira
On the first day of your 6 day Marrakech to Essaouira, your driver will pick you up from your accommodation or Marrakech Airport. Then, we will cross the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying breathtaking scenery and the Tizi n'Test Pass, where we will stop to admire the panoramic view and take memorable photos. Afterwards, we will continue our journey through several Berber and mountain villages, stopping in Oulad Barrehil for lunch.
After lunch, we will drive to Taroudant, known as "Little Marrakech", where we will visit the ancient city walls of Taroudant, the oldest in Morocco (16th century) . We will then head to Assarag Square to visit the artisans' market, specializing in leather and silverware. We will also explore the traditional Souk Talmeklat Square, with its numerous stalls and handicraft shops.
Next, we will visit Taroudant's famous tanneries, where animal hides are used to make clothing, shoes, bags, and more. Afterwards, we will explore Palais Claudio Bravo (requires online pre-booking), a distinctive palace that blends traditional Moroccan style with classic European influences. The museum houses part of Bravo's personal collection, including rare artifacts from Mali, Japan, and Morocco, as well as dinosaur fossils and paintings. To conclude the day, you can enjoy the museum's beautiful gardens before our late afternoon transfer back to your accommodation. Overnight stay and dinner in Taroudant.
After a Moroccan breakfast, we continue our journey towards Tafraout, passing through the breathtaking Anti-Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you will pass Berber and mountain villages such as Ain el Mediour and Ait Abdallah, and stop in the Ammeln Valley, located in the heart of the western Anti-Atlas, famous for its almond trees, palm groves, and small villages. The Ammeln Valley overlooks the "Lion's Head" area, a natural mountain formation whose contours resemble the face of a majestic lion, as if guarding this natural paradise from the mountaintops. You can enjoy this magnificent panoramic view and take photos.
Next, we arrive in Tafraoute, famous for its painted rocks , where we will stop to enjoy a delicious traditional Moroccan lunch. After lunch, we will first head to the town of Aguerd Oudad, near Tafraout, to discover the famous painted granite rocks (the Blue Rocks). You can see artistic drawings on the rocks. We will also visit "Napoleon's Hat," a tall, sloping rock formation that closely resembles the hat of the famous French emperor. From here, you can enjoy beautiful views overlooking the village and its stunning green landscape.
Afterwards, we will return to the center of Tafraout, where we will visit the local markets, selling handcrafted goods such as carpets, jewelry, and pottery. Late in the afternoon, our driver will take you to your accommodation for the night. Overnight stay in Tafraout.
After breakfast, we depart Tafraout and drive toward Tiznit, enjoying the breathtaking views of the Anti-Atlas Mountains along the way.
Upon arrival in Tiznit, known as the Silver Capital, you will have ample time to explore the city. We will visit "Aïn Zerka" or The Blue Spring, a natural spring that played a significant role in the founding of the city and served as a water source for the Berber tribes during the 19th century. Next, we will visit the imposing Kasbah of Aghnaj, built in the 19th century to protect the city and its inhabitants. This kasbah overlooks Aïn Zerka. After that, we will visit the goldsmiths' market in the heart of the old city, where skilled artisans gather to create silver jewelry by hand using traditional techniques.
After lunch in Tiznit, we continue to the coast and reach Mirleft, a peaceful seaside town with cliffs and beautiful beaches. Enjoy free time to relax or take a walk near the ocean. Overnight stay in Mirleft.
After breakfast, enjoy a full day in Mirleft. You can visit Imin Tourga Beach or Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah Beach to relax or try water sports like surfing. Afterwards, if you wish, we will visit the famous Legzira Beach, where you can take memorable photos of its magnificent natural rock arches.
Then, we'll return to Mirleft for lunch at a local restaurant, where you can savor fresh fish dishes brought in by fishermen from the Atlantic Ocean. After lunch, you will have free time to explore the town center, stroll through its small markets, and discover authentic local products such as argan oil, amlou (a traditional Berber spread), and handcrafted woven items made by local artisans. Then, we will visit the historic Kasbah of Mirleft, perched high above the town with stunning views of the coastline.

After breakfast, we will head north along the Atlantic coast towards Essaouira. Along the way, we pass through Inezgane and then Agadir, where we will stop for a break. Afterwards, we continue our journey through the coastal towns of Taghazout and Imsouane, famous for their stunning ocean views and tranquil atmosphere.
Next, we arrive in Essaouira, also known as "Mogador" or the "City of Winds." We will visit several important sites in Essaouira (depending on the time). First, we will explore the Medina of Essaouira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can wander its narrow, ancient streets and visit traditional artisan workshops. Next, we will visit Bab Doukkala of Essaouira (the 18th century). Then, we can visit the Bab Marrakech tower and stroll through Moulay Hassan square, the lively heart of the city, before heading to Bab El Marsa of essaouira and the bustling Essaouira Fishing Port, where the iconic blue fishing boats gather. Here, you will enjoy a delicious seafood lunch featuring the day’s fresh catch.
After lunch, we will continue our exploration of Essaouira with a visit to the Sqala of the Kasbah, a defensive bastion that once protected the city from pirate attacks. We will also stop at Bordj El Berod, located near the beach. Afterwards, we will transfer you to your accommodation. Overnight in Essaouira.
After breakfast, we leave Essaouira and drive back to Marrakech. Along the way, you'll see the famous Argan trees, found only in Morocco, and goats climbing the trees to eat the Agan fruits. We will stop for a short break to take photos and enjoy this unique natural sight.
Afterwards, we continue our tour and will stop at a local Argan oil cooperative to learn about the production process and local products (optional). In the late afternoon or evening, we arrive in Marrakech, where the driver will transfer you to the airport or your accommodation in Marrakech. End of your 6 days tour in Morocco.
